1 Man Critical After Being Stabbed in Holly Hill
One man was left in critical condition after being stabbed in Holly Hill on Friday, police announced. The suspect in the stabbing, identified as 29-year-old Andrew Drake, was arrested and remains in custody as of Monday. The incident began when a call was placed to the Holly Hill Police Department at around 5:53 am on Friday, December 26th. A stabbing was reported at 1601 Ridgewood Avenue, police say. That address is a 7-Eleven gas station and convenience store. It's located at the northeast corner of Ridgewood Avenue and Flomich Street. Officers responding to the call discovered the victim lying on the ground next to a bus bench. William McCauley, as the HHPD would later identify him, was not conscious upon officers' arrival. Life-saving care was immediately given to McCauley, until medics got to the scene. He was then taken to a local hospital, listed in critical condition. According to the HHPD, Drake was still on-scene when officers arrived. He was quickly made the suspect in the stabbing, and was detained for further questioning. The HHPD has said that the two may have been arguing over music, leading to a violent confrontation. No further details about the reported dispute have been revealed so far. Drake was booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail on Friday, charged with attempted second degree murder and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He remains in custody without bond. This marks Drake's third arrest in Volusia County, following one each in August and early December of this year. The charges from those arrests include petty theft, resisting an officer, and refusal to leave public property. As of Monday, the HHPD is still interviewing involved parties. Detectives are working in conjunction with the State Attorney's Office and Volusia County Crime Scene Investigations Unit. Any further information released about this case will be added to this and/or future reports.
