3 Arrested for Deltona Armed Robbery
Three arrests have been made in connection to an armed robbery in Deltona, the Volusia Sheriff's Office announced on Tuesday. Two of the arrested suspects are minors, and the other is an 18-year-old. The 16-year-old male victim in the robbery reportedly told the VSO that he was robbed at gunpoint while meeting with an acquaintance. That acquaintance, identified as 15-year-old Izrell Perez, reportedly met with the victim on McClellan Street on Wednesday, July 29. According to the VSO, Perez arrived in a vehicle with another person driving. The driver is said to have pulled a gun on the victim while Perez took the money. The following day, deputies arrested Perez at his residence on an armed robbery charge the following day. The other person involved in the robbery was identified as 18-year-old Clayton Hencken of Deltona. Hencken was charged with armed robbery while masked and arrested on Monday. He remains in custody at the Volusia County Branch Jail without bond as of Wednesday. The victim himself, whose identity was not publicly announced by the VSO, wound up becoming a suspect in their own right. As it turns out, he was accused of violating probation by leaving his residence to meet with Perez after his curfew. Investigations into texts between the victim and Perez reportedly revealed plans to purchase a firearm. The victim was arrested on Friday, charged with violation of probation. When his father came to pick him up from the Family Resource Center, he was found to have an open writ and was also arrested.
