Daytona Man Sentenced to 45 Years for Sexual Battery
A Daytona Beach resident has been sentenced to 45 years in prison for sexual battery. 23-year-old Michael Strout received his sentence last week from Circuit Judge Elizabeth Blackburn. Strout was arrested on July 19, 2025 for sexual battery on a minor 12 to 18 years old by a person with familial or custodial authority. Once he serves his 45 years in prison, Strout will be placed on sex offender probation for the rest of his life. The 45-year sentence for Strout won't begin until he's done serving a ten-year sentence for violation of probation according to the State Attorney's Office. Strout has previous charges in Volusia County for aggravated assault and criminal mischief. Altogether, Strout is not set to be released from prison until he's in his last 70s. "Another example of your prosecutors protecting you and your family," said State Attorney R.J. Larizza about the case. "It is our solemn duty and our pleasure." The Daytona Beach Police Department investigated Strout's case, with Assistant State Attorney Helen Schwartz leading the prosecution.
