Deltona Driver Killed After Medical Incident Causes Accident
An elderly woman was tragically killed in a car accident last week on Christmas Day, the Volusia Sheriff's Office announced. The victim was identified as 75-year-old Linda Hebb, a Deltona resident. The incident was called in to the Volusia Sheriff's Office at around 1:25 pm on Thursday. The crash itself occurred at East Graves Avenue and North Normandy Boulevard. According to reports from the scene, witnesses saw a beige Kia Sorento driving eastbound on East Grave Avenue when it began to swerve. The SUV struck a guardrail, then crossed into oncoming traffic, the VSO says. The vehicle came to a stop when it hit the opposite guardrail head-on. One of the witnesses to the accident reportedly went to the victim and attempted to perform CPR until first responders could arrive. When Volusia County EMS personnel got to the scene, they found Hebb and took her to Halifax Hospital Deltona. Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead at the hospital. The Volusia Sheriff's Office conducted a preliminary investigation into the accident. The current leading theory is that Hebb experienced some sort of medical episode, causing her to lose control of her vehicle and crash.
