Driver in Deadly Volusia I-4 Crash Arrested 6 Months Later

The Florida Highway Patrol has arrested 23-year-old Lindsey Isaacs in connection to the hit-and-run crash that killed Flagler Deputy County Administrator Jorge Salinas last October. Isaacs has been charged with eight felonies and is being held in Volusia County without bond. On October 4, Jorge Salinas was driving on I-4 with his wife, Nancy. They were involved in an accident which claimed both of their lives, as well as the life of a motorcyclist who was also involved. An additional victim was seriously injured. At the time, law enforcement stated that the driver of a Dodge Durango was at-large in what was considered a hit-and-run. Isaacs was said to be driving on I-4 in Volusia County when the incident occurred. Her Durango reportedly hit the side of a Ford Focus before drifting into a Suzuki motorcycle, according to the arrest affidavit. The Focus hit the guardrail and ricocheted back into traffic, clipping a Honda Pilot in the right-rear. The Honda Pilot then reportedly went off the road and into a tree. The motorcyclist was said to have been thrown off when the Durango hit it. The two occupants of the Pilot were killed, as was the motorcyclist. The Focus's driver was injured severely. Witnesses of the crash recalled that the Durango was traveling at over 100 miles per hour. The Durango, now said to have belonged to Isaacs, was found in the parking lot of the Integra Woods apartment complex in Palm Coast. In February, prior to her arrest, Isaacs sued to get her vehicle back from Florida Highway Patrol. Earlier this month, FHP confirmed that they believed the vehicle to have been a factor in the accident that killed Jorge Salinas. Records show Isaacs was booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail on Friday. She's been charged with three counts of leaving the scene of a crash with death, three counts of vehicular homicide, and one each of reckless driving with serious bodily injury and leaving the scene of a crash with serious bodily injury. Isaacs' jail booking record lists her as a resident of Ocala. Her FHP arrest affidavit, however, states that she resides in Integra Woods. Upon being interviewed by FHP troopers, Isaacs reportedly denied hitting anything. She was quoted as having speculated that her car was stolen.
