Deltona Man Arrested for Relations with Teenage Girl

A Deltona resident has been arrested for alleged sexual relations with an underage girl. 31-year-old Oliver Almonte is accused of several encounters with the victim earlier this year. The Volusia Sheriff's Office's Child Exploitation opened an investigation into Almonte in June after they were informed that Almonte was allegedly in an inappropriate relationship with a minor. The encounters between the two reportedly spanned from May 19 to early June. As detectives investigated the alleged relationship, the VSO says they discovered thousands of text messages between the two. The messages are said to have spoken of sexual activities, skipping school to engage in sexual relations, and the importance of keeping their relationship a secret. On Sunday Almone was taken into custody by the Volusia Sheriff's Office. He was booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail on five charges: four counts of lewd and lascivious sexual battery on a victim 12 to 16 years old, and one count of resisting arrest without violence. Late Monday afternoon, Almonte posted his $250,000 bond and was released from custody. The VSO says its investigation is still ongoing, and that detectives are seeking further charges for another alleged sexual relationship of Almonte's with a different teenage girl.
