FCSO Announces Arrests for November 2025 Palm Coast Shooting

Two suspects have been arrested in connection to a shooting in Flagler Beach last year, the Flagler County Sheriff's Office announced on Thursday. As it turns out, the two men arrested are the two shooting victims themselves. One, then a juvenile, was arrested Tuesday while the other was taken into custody back in November and later released. The incident occurred on November 16, 2025 at the Beach Village Apartments in Palm Coast. The complex is located just adjacent to the Beach Village Publix in Flagler Beach near the Intracoastal Waterway, but the apartments have a Palm Coast address. In last year's incident, Micah McGill (then 17 years old) and Tyree Smith (then 22 years old) were each shot during what was called a domestic disturbance. Detectives interviewed those involved, and on Thursday the FCSO reiterated it started as a disagreement between Smith and one of McGill's family members. Last year the FCSO mentioned a female occupant of the apartment who was part of a verbal and physical altercation with Smith. In Thursday's update, the FCSO said McGill and Smith provided conflicting accounts of what happened. McGill reportedly told detectives he retrieved the firearm before the shooting at first, before later saying he wrestled it away from Smith. A search warrant was obtained for the apartment, and the FCSO Crime Scene Investigation Unit collected evidence from the scene. The conclusion was made that McGill shot Smith and then accidentally shot himself. On Tuesday, July 7, McGill was arrested for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm by a delinquent, and shooting into a building. McGill has turned 18 since the shooting occurred. Records show he is still in custody as of Thursday afternoon. Smith, meanwhile, was arrested and charged with battery in the days that followed the shooting. He bonded out the day after his arrest. Now 23 years old, Smith entered a deferred prosecution agreement with the State Attorney's Office that led to the battery charge being dismissed. As a condition, he had to take an anger management course. "This investigation was a lot more complicated than it needed to be and took a lot longer than it needed because the people involved did not want to be cooperative or be truthful how this shooting occurred," said Flagler Sheriff Rick Staly. "Despite their attempts to cover up the incident, our Major Case Unit continued to investigate until the truth was proven and an arrest was made. I commend everyone involved for their perseverance during this investigation."
