Jacksonville Man Convicted for Volusia Attempted Kidnapping

56-year-old Timmothy Hall was convicted on Thursday of attempted kidnapping of a minor for an incident that occurred in Daytona Beach. Hall, a Jacksonville, was accused of trying to whisk a child away while they were at a business with their family on July 11, 2025. Hall's conviction came at the end of a two-day trial. A Volusia County jury found him guilty as charged of attempted kidnapping of a minor less than 13 years old, as well as lewd/lascivious exhibition on a minor less than 16 years old. Immediately following his conviction, Hall was sentenced to 30 years in prison. Upon his release, he'll be designated as a sex offender. Hall is serving day to day as a prison release reoffender, according to the State Attorney's Office. The incident in question occurred just over a year ago at 2455 West International Speedway Blvd in Daytona Beach. Hall was said to have approached the child and exposed his genitals. He then reportedly tried to lead the child away from their family. When the child yelled, police say Hall fled the scene. This latest conviction isn't Hall's first of the sort. In Hillsborough County in 2012 he was convicted of lewd/lascivious exhibition on a minor less than 16 years old. "I thank God that most folks never experience the raw and dreadful reality of criminal activity," said State Attorney R.J. Larizza. "It is inconceivable that someone would target a seven-year-old girl in such a way, especially in a public place. Your prosecutors are hypervigilant in their efforts to protect you and your family. The defendant received the maximum penalty, but 30 years doesn't feel like enough."
